mind2body® is a sports, fitness and well-being company with highly-qualified, professional staff and a brand new fitness studio in Plan-les-Ouates. Its founder, Benjamin Greco, uses his business and sporting skills to run his company and its Web site www.mind2body.ch.

Situation before our intervention

In 2006, Geneva-based web designers Too Pixel built a website for the newly formed mind2body®. Unfortunately, early traffic results were not as expected. The site was almost invisible on the Internet and visitor levels were almost nothing.

Challenge

Too Pixel suggested that ProSEO run an optimisation campaign in 2007 to improve this situation. The aim was to be ranked in French-speaking Google Switzerland for keywords such as «Personal Training Geneva» and «Sports Coach Geneva» as well as more «long tail» phrases such as «loosing weight with aerobic».

The first thing we asked Benjamin Greco to do was purchase a domain name with important keywords in it (www.personaltrainergeneve.com). The effect of this was to get quick results from exact matches in Google. As a result, the site was pushed up onto the second page of results very quickly. This gave us time then to work on other keywords.

We made a few adjustments to our customer’s texts to improve keyword density and then started a link baiting campaign. Within six months the site was ranked first or second for about 100 expressions and terms searched by Internet users. The personal training market is particular competitive in a city like Geneva so we still needed to improve on some of the positions won, but the effects were beginning to tell. mind2body® started receiving contact requests from the site.

Results

After 12 months, the site was ranked first for all the customer’s most important keywords. He was obviously very happy with a 20-fold increase in the visitor rate. At the start of the operation, the site received 2 to 3 visitors a day, after 12 months it was receiving between 60 and 70 from qualified searches.

It has to be underlined here that visitor numbers are not the most important criterion. ProSEO emphasised not only visitor numbers but the quality of those visitors. A visitor that lands on the site by typing «Restaurant in Geneva» will not necessarily be of the highest quality for a site selling personal training.

Although optimisation for mind2body® is now complete, ProSEO continues to monitor the site to check it still ranks well. One year after the end of the campaign, it still ranks number one for the most important keywords.

Too Pixel has now been asked to build a new site for the company, www.m2bstudio.ch. We have already started optimising it and Benjamin Greco trusts that it will get the same results as the other one!
